Clean Green Andros is a voluntary, independent initiative, all about working together, to help gather information and share available simple waste management practices that we can all easily follow, for a clean, green and sustainable Andros.
Andros is a unique island, the greenest in the Cyclades. Andros is not untouched by environmental problems, especially in the summer, when the population increases with visitors and tourists. Our dream is to help make Andros the first island of the Cyclades without waste.
Much of the project is built on the efforts of our generous volunteers. Volunteers can offer their time and skills to help make Andros clean and green!

Clean Green Andros is being supported by the Cyclades Preservation Fund (CPF). They support sustainable initiatives and promote the preservation of the exceptional beauty and natural value of the Cyclades. Together with CPF and its partners, we can all benefit from the knowledge and best practices across the Cyclades.

The Clean Green Andros Advisory Board has been established to support the project in achieving its vision, to help Andros become cleaner and greener. The board is asked to provide advice and support, ensuring that we act together. All members of society need to come together to make progress.
We have extended the invitation to join the Advisory Board to all political parties on the island to ensure that we can all work together in solving one of the most important community and environmental issues on Andros.
The AB now comprises representatives of the Municipal Authority, municipal parties, waste service providers and our important sponsors in a unique forum to reach the majority of the Andros community and overcome the past problems.
The success of the Advisory Board will be measured by its unity, the active participation of it’s members, and by the results achieved.

The Clean Green Andros team!
We love Andros, respect and admire its rich nature and cultural heritage and man-made landscape, a result of the harmonious co-existence of humans and nature for millennia. We are passionate about cleaning up our beloved island and reducing the amount of plastic and other waste.
We have all spent many hours picking up garbage, and we realised how difficult it was to find where and how to recycle stuff.
We were frustrated whenever we saw the overflowing recycling bins, and we did not believe recycling worked on Andros.
We got together in 2020 to make plans and preparations. We realised a lot could be done to help all of us improve our waste management.

We have collected a lot of information and felt it was time to bring it all together and share it with you.
